Venture on a journey as the building process for the Bed & Breakfast on Tiffany Hill unfolds. This will give you an idea of how we work with you every step of the way to deliver your custom dream home.

Locating the perfect property. We will work with you to look at your property before you buy to discuss how it works with your home. The work we do before you purchase eliminates surprises when we start. A good realtor and your builder should participate in the property decisions.

Breaking ground as a team.

Preparing the land. We will assist you in placing the home on just the right spot. We need a vision of how the home and the landscape will work with the light and weather as we decide the direction to face the living areas of your future home. We are always a good steward of your land and stay as green as possible.

Laying the foundation perimeter. A good home demands a good foundation. Particularly in our terrain where soil types change over a few feet and where springs are found in odd places. You just do not know what rock you may find when you start to dig. Experience is key in working with what we find.

Once the foundation is in place we frame the home. We go beyond what is required by code or prints. We want solid floors that do not bounce or squeak and walls that are straight and solid. Now is the time to make sure that we do not have problems in the future.

Consulting with the architect. During construction we are constantly consulting with the owner and other professionals involved. We are creating a home that is the creation of several people. You the homeowner, the architect, designer, land planner and the builder.

An excited owner with her views. The most pleasure we get as we build is to see the owner excited about their new home. With each visit to the site it seems they find something new and special. We are happy to see those smiles and hear the laughter.

Setting the roof shingles. Getting the roof on the home is a big step. We only use the best subs for this critical job. Keeping the home dry for lots of years is of utmost importance. Using the best material is key - cutting costs here doesn't add up in the long run.

Drying in the home. As we get the home dried in a lot of decisions have to be made. Now we wire the home for lights and computer/TV connections. Prior thoughts are always changing when you walk in and can see the room. Plumbing valves are set and heating and a/c runs are completed. Security systems and central vacs are also added during this time.

Reviewing the progress. We are constantly reviewing where we are and what’s next. We only use the best subs and keeping the schedules in sync is a daily job. We want to finish on schedule and on budget. If either slips we all need to be aware of next steps.

Snowing. We always plan accordingly for weather delays and we usually need them in the North Carolina area.

Setting the drywall.

Installing the siding. This is another critical step. We carefully inspect this process and only use the best subs and material. Not only is this the look of the home but it is also what keeps warm in and wet and cold out. Getting the detail in the look and maximum protection to balance is not the goal but must be the reality.

Finishing the drywall. Getting the drywall finished smooth or textured is the backdrop for all to come. Paint, moldings, and pictures will finish the home but the drywall is critical. We ensure that walls are straight and solid, and the drywall is secured better than required. Watching the details that will never be seen later makes those that will be seen always just right.

Finishing out the details. It's the details that deliver satisfaction as the owner looks at the home for years to come. Always feeling good about what is seen is our desired goal.

Installing an oversized shower. Things that are unique should be embraced and enhanced. A shower that is 5 feet wide by 8 feet long with a level floor should blend with the bath and feel special. Details.

Delivering quality cabinetry.

Installing the cabinets. We have our clients work with cabinet details before we lay the foundation. We must have a plan that works so that as we build, we put everything in its proper place. This results in kitchens, baths, and buffets that are stunning.

Installing the herb garden. We work with the landscaping professionals to bring the grounds back to life. The construction process can be hard, but we always focus on what will come and try to be a good steward of the land as we go.
